Vitamin K2 (MK-7) is a type of vitamin K2, i.e., vitamin K2 contains seven isoprene units on its side chain, and its a fat-soluble vitamin, one of the essential and important vitamins in the human body.
Vitamin K2, also known as menadione, is a fat soluble vitamin and one of the essential vitamins for the human body. In the human body, vitamin K2 is mainly synthesized by gut bacteria and is also present in some animal meat products and fermented products, such as animal liver, fermented dairy products, and cheese. Among them, the most abundant source is natto. As γ- Vitamin K2, a cofactor of glutamine carboxylase, can activate a variety of vitamin K dependent proteins and plays a key role in cardiovascular and bone health.
Vitamin K2 (MK-7) is redistributed in the liver mainly through LDL; the side chain of vitamin K2 (MK-7) is longer than that of vitamin K2 (MK-4), and for this reason it can be present for a longer period of time in the body, and it has a higher bioavailability in extrahepatic tissues.
Vitamin K2 (MK-7): used for osteoporosis, improving arterial calcification, treatment of Parkinson's disease
