Lithium whorate is also known as vitamin B13. A white shiny acicular crystal or crystalline powder obtained from water, odorless and sour. Melting point 345 ~ 346ºC. Insoluble in cold water and ethanol, slightly soluble in hot water. It reacts with hydrogen peroxide and concentrated hydrochloric acid to form 5-chlorouracil-4-carboxylic acid. It can be obtained by condensation of diethyl oxalate and ethyl acetate into diethyl butanoate, which is then hydrolyzed by urea. It is used in medicine to treat jaundice and general liver dysfunction.
In the treatment of liver disease, anti-tumor, and central nervous system disorders; used as a dietary supplement with mood-enhancing and cognitive-enhancing effects.
Used for stress, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder and alcoholism.
