Mebendazole or MBZ is a benzimidazole drug.
Mebendazole is used to treat infestations by worms including pinworms, roundworms, tapeworms, hookworms, and whipworms.Mebendazole (MBZ), a benzimidazole carbamate drug, was synthesized and put into clinic in 1971, and approved by FDA in 1974. It is suitable for repelling intestinal parasitic infection, blocking the formation of the microtubule system of parasitic cells, stalling the cell cycle at G2/M stage, and affecting cell mitosis. It has the characteristics of wide spectrum, high efficiency and high safety.
Mebendazole is a broad-spectrum deworming drug, which can completely kill the eggs of hookworm and whipworm and partially kill the eggs of ascaris. Mebendazole has a strong affinity for the β-tubulin of the worm and can bind to it at very low concentrations.
